As a member of the ENIC-NARIC, CNRED attended today, June 9, at the 28th annual meeting of the ENIC-NARIC (National Centers for Academic Recognition and Information), organized online by the European Commission, with the support of the European Council, UNESCO and the ENIC-NARIC Center in Portugal.

The annual meeting put on the agenda the actions and projects of the ENIC-NARIC networks in the field of recognition of studies, the impact of COVID-19 on higher education and the challenges posed in the recognition of studies from a European perspective, the European Education Area. (digitization and quality assurance) influences recognition practices, the Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications, and the role of the Asia National Information Centers Network & ndash; Pacific (APNNIC) in disseminating information relevant to the recognition of qualifications and on international collaborations established between Asia-Pacific centers.

The ENIC-NARIC network currently has 55 Member States, as an example of good practice in the recognition of studies for the development of new regional networks under the Conventions on the Recognition of Studies for Asia, the Middle East, Africa or Latin America.

The NARIC network was established in 1984, its secretariat being provided by the European Commission whose members are the states of the European Union. The NARIC Centers support and assist in the implementation of the Lisbon Convention on the recognition of studies by the competent national authorities of the signatory States to the Convention. At the same time, they serve as a mechanism for multilateral cooperation within the UNESCO region of Europe and North America, while also ensuring liaison with other UNESCO regions.

The ENIC (European Network of National Information Centers) network was set up in 1994, in collaboration with UNESCO and the Council of Europe, as a co-secretariat. This network brings together the signatory countries of the Lisbon Convention, with the same responsibilities as the NARIC Centers.

The Romanian NARIC Center was created on December 1, 1995, based on Agreement no. 95-PECO-SOC-0019 concluded with the European Commission, as a component part of the SOCRATES National Agency. As a member of the ENIC / NARIC, National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas shall, at national and international level in an ongoing exchange of information and assistance on education and legal status of educational institutions abroad, training, as well as to the specific conditions of these institutions for obtaining the study documents.
